"The world in miniature"
an exhibition of the district of Swabia
"Architectural models provide us with comprehensive and far-reaching information about spatial relationships. By looking at what is small, we can understand what does not yet exist
and can only be experienced later in its original size by visiting it. Due to their vivid spatial representation and careful execution, models exert an intense and special attraction on young and old alike.
We have been familiar with architectural models since the Renaissance and they are still used today as a basis for architectural and urban planning. Alongside drawings, they represent the architect's central medium of representation and are still used as presentation models for competitions, for example, but also as working models for developing and reviewing architectural ideas.
The exhibition at Höchstädt Castle presents a large number of historical and contemporary architectural models from the district of Swabia. The models are fascinating due to the conception of the presentation, the quality of the workmanship and their attention to detail."
Several models - including the 9×9 and 11×11 houses - from the Bernhard office are also on loan to the exhibition.
