German Natural Stone Award,
honorable mention for House M
Excerpt from the jury minutes:
"Honorable mention
House M, Grünwald near Munich
Titus Bernhard Architekten, Augsburg
House M initially impresses with its skillful use of the terrain. Externally, it presents itself as a well-structured stone block with cut-outs and cavities, larger and smaller holes as windows. These openings are well integrated into the landscape, presenting interiors à la Mies in the best sense of the word. The quarry stone masonry consolidates and compacts the building mass, while at the same time creating the necessary counterpart to the various openings and the widely projecting, almost floating upper floor: a balancing act, generously and confidently mastered."
