Invitation competition residential building Lock, Ertingen
2004

The plot derives its qualities from the topography and its spaciousness, rather than from a "panoramic view" as formulated in the competition. We responded to this with a concept that offers both scenic views and introverted courtyards. A multi-storey design does not improve the visual relationship with the countryside several kilometers away. That is why we thematize the topography with a flat roof. The built environment is heterogeneous. House L thus becomes an ambivalent type of its own, generated from its program. This approach offers enormous potential for variable configuration. We offer clients a kind of matrix within which they can develop their own individual variant. The program areas are divided into individual components that can be put together like a construction kit. The variety and possibilities of a flowing spatial continuum are created by constantly changing views and staggered levels.
