Gymnasium Bruckmühl, competition 2001

The competition entry uses a didactic approach to address the interweaving of architecture and landscape space. It takes up the agricultural plot structure and, with its special floor plan structure in the third dimension, attempts to make an independent contribution in terms of content, space and ecology. Pleasant spatial situations are created on the limited plot with clear zoning and a rhythm of buildings and courtyard/green spaces. A structural approach has been chosen that presents itself as a closed rectangle in the composition of all components. The organization along a main access axis can thus also be used separately from the school.

Classrooms and specialist rooms are oriented east-west. The partially sunken courtyards are designed with different themes to create high-quality recreational areas. The leitmotif for the school's themed courtyards and the agricultural plot structure is the transfer of an oil painting by Richard Diebenkorn, which is associated with Abstract Expressionism and color field painting of the 1960s and 1970s in the United States. This pictorial structure randomly arranges the open spaces of the rather rationally organized architecture.

Grammar School, Bruckmühl, Competition 2001

The competition entry uses a didactic approach to discuss the interweaving of architecture and landscape. It takes up the agricultural small-plot structure and, with the use of a conventional, tried-and-tested floor plan in the third dimension, tries to deliver a substantive, spatially and ecologically independent contribution. On the small building plot, an attempt is made to use clear zoning and the rhythm of buildings and courtyard / green space to achieve pleasant room situations. A structural approach is chosen, which presents itself as a closed rectangle in the composition of all components. The organization along one main access route can be used in isolation from the school operations.

Classrooms and subject rooms are east-west-oriented. The partly lowered courtyards are developed with different themes to form high-quality communal areas. The leitmotif for the topic courtyards of the school as well as the agricultural small-plot structure is the rendering of an oil painting by Richard Diebenkorn, a work from the Abstract Expressionism and the color-field painting of the 1960s and 1970s in the United States. The picture structure randomly arranges the free spaces between the rationally organized architecture.
