Invitation to the reopening of Galerie Basilica
with opening Udo Rutschmann "La Sorella"
20.06.2024 & 21.06.2024
Start: 19.00 h
Music & composition: Angela Rossel, violin
Location: Galerie Basilica - Provinostraße 52 Building B2
We are delighted to be showing Udo Rutschmann's work cycles "La Sorella", "Die Armee der Liebenden" and "Die Beobachterinnen" for the first time at the reopening of Galerie Basilica in Augsburg.
Elementary human experiences such as love, death, hope, despair, binding and loosening oneself form the conceptual foundation of Rutschmann's group of works.
Over a period of two years, the artist has taken his works further and further into the depths in a serial process of circling and approaching. During this time, he created large-format, abstract wall reliefs from medical plaster bandages through to figurative sculptures.
The exhibition is linked to the installation "Die Beobachterin" in Augsburg's Moritzkirche from April to June 2023 and is curated by Titus Bernhard.
Udo Rutschmann is a draughtsman and sculptor born in Augsburg.
He studied philosophy and art history in Augsburg, followed by a degree in architecture at London Metropolitan University under Adam Caruso and a degree in sculpture at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, Bonn/ Alfter.
Rutschmann has exhibited his work in Germany and abroad, including in Dubai, Madrid, Rome, London, Vilnius and Munich. He has won prizes in various competitions.
We look forward to your visit - either on June 20 or 21, 2024
