House 9 × 9
This house was built in a suburban community in Augsburg against considerable resistance from the community's building committee and the immediate neighborhood.
The two-storey residential building is designed as a habitable sculpture for a couple and as a statement against banal local design statutes that cannot help to promote building culture. At the time, the "path of suffering" was symptomatic of the (non-)acceptance of new, innovative architecture in parts of our country. On the square floor plan of 9 x 9 meters from the development plan, a two-storey open sequence of rooms develops with living, dining and kitchen areas on the first floor, a work gallery, bedroom, dressing room and bathroom on the second floor and a reading gallery under the asymmetrical pyramid roof.
