House K

The building regulations in the Tegernsee region are restrictive. So how do we respond to the qualities of a traditional Bavarian cultural landscape that is well worth preserving on the one hand and the demand for updating with contemporary design methods on the other?

The result is a typologically simple house that blends in with the local buildings in terms of roof shape, roof pitch (20 degrees) and materials.

It digs into the steep slope of the property and showcases the wonderful view of Lake Tegernsee.

Its special feature is the façade and roof design with split larch shingles, which are drawn over all surfaces like a snake skin, and the absence of any roof overhang.

The house is characterized by economical and careful detailing.
