Almost ten years after the first Aedes exhibition on the work of Titus Bernhard, the Augsburg architect is showcasing his design and conceptual skills in another exhibition. To date, the architecture of Titus Bernhard Architekten has primarily stood for high-quality villas and exclusive architecture that has won numerous awards. The wealth of experience gained through this work in both planning and realization was the basis for new large public buildings, such as the SGL soccer arena in Augsburg, completed in 2009, and the town hall in Bernried.
The fact that there is another side to Titus Bernhard's work, a pronounced social responsibility, the need to bring the sensitive world of architecture closer to a broader public, an intensive examination of structural themes in the context of the respective architectural task as well as leitmotifs, is shown in this exhibition using selected projects as examples. The ambivalence of these themes are part of the architect's intensive personal involvement, his creative work and the rich spectrum of tasks, such as in the competition entries for the grammar school in Bruckmühl or the day care center and youth center in Göggingen.
The works shown in the exhibition and catalog demonstrate the high technical and aesthetic quality of each of his numerous projects, but they also provide an outlook on the enormous spectrum of new building projects that demonstrate the typical conceptual strength and creative power of Titus Bernhard's work.
The office Titus Bernhard Architekten was founded in Augsburg in 1995. Its spectrum includes conceptual building construction, interior design, open spaces and outdoor facilities. Special emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary composition of the team of employees, who belong to the fields of architecture, fine arts, mechanical engineering, computer animation, new media and graphic design. The office has received numerous awards, including the "Kunstförderpreis Architektur" from the City of Augsburg in 1998, the BDA Prize of Bavaria in 2006, the Erich Schelling Medal in 2006 and "best architects" in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012.
An Aedes catalog will accompany the exhibition.
