House 11 × 11

Titus Bernhard Architekten House 11 × 11

House 11 x 11 is the logical successor to House 9 x 9, based on the idea of designing a house with a compact external appearance and homogeneous material appearance, with a small envelope and the largest possible usable area, which serves a family as a habitable sculpture and shows its exterior as a reflection of the internal organization.

House 11 x 11 is an icon for its users, a couple from the communications industry. It is emblematic and new in its construction method: a multi-layered liquid waterproofing with a black finish is coated over the exterior walls made of reinforced concrete and wood and over a wooden roof made of prefabricated elements, above which runs a vertical wooden slat façade without counter battens, which converges on ridge beams on the roof.

The aesthetically pronounced graphic character is reinforced by the different densities and very precise positioning of the slats and technically ensures that rain and snow can run off without obstruction. The roof and façade are like a large "umbrella". The wooden windows are precisely integrated into the slat geometry.
