House 10 × 10 (The Camouflage House)

The archetypal pitched roof house with a twisted ridge is a homage to the landscape and light. It is located on a green south-west-facing slope at the end of a quiet residential street. As you approach, your gaze is drawn upwards to the recessed building, whose stainless steel shell reflects the lush greenery and light of the surroundings (camouflage). The dissolution of its appearance in the environment of nature and the constantly changing times of day and seasons is the leitmotif of the building.

A staircase leads up from the street along the exposed concrete garage to the entrance. In the compact interior, 200 m2 are spread over three levels, with open, airy room sequences allowing views across the floors. Large windows direct the view to the surrounding greenery and away from the street and neighboring houses, emphasizing the proximity and connection to nature. The twisted ridge and the resulting asymmetrical roof surfaces mean that the sculptural character of the house can also be experienced inside. The light that floods the room through strategically placed openings further emphasizes this effect.

Designed as a low-energy house, the house is equipped with a 14 kW air heat pump and is 83.7% recyclable.
